So Many Crackpots, So Little Time Left For Sanity. . .

OMG! Never before, in my lifetime, have there been so many crackpots running for public office! Based on their collective campaign proposals we are heading back to the early days of our country's history......no women's rights (we are still chattel),no labor laws/restrictions (get those kids to work), slavery is fine and dandy (stimulates the economy) no more Health Care or Social Security (no more old folks cluttering up the landscape) because life expectancy has dropped....and only the wealthy landowners will have the right to vote.....what a world to look forward to!! I can only hope and pray that there are enough fair and realistic voters out there to prevent this from happening.

Rafa Did It!

At last! Rafa has completed the Grand Slam!...and he is only 24 years old! I can't think of a more deserving champion. He will be tested in the coming year but let'ssee if he can repeat by winning all four majors in one year.  Tennis Rants

Thoughts while watching the U.S.Open. If a player intentionally smashes/breaks his racket during a match he is given a warning and if he does it again he gets a point reduction......but, if a player berates and demeans an official,i.e. a linesperson nothing is said or done! Does the Tennis Association consider an inanimate object( racket) more valuable than a human being? This is not only unsportsman like it sets a very bad example for young players.

Intentional advantage???? The last 3 players that Federer met were "lefties"....in anticipation of a Nadal-Federer Final?Too bad RF met Djokavic in the semis!Who decides the match-ups?on what basis do they make their decisions? By comparison Nadal faced much tougher opponents in his early round matches......is bias afoot here?   Tea Party In The Garden: Wrong Path

In a weird way I understand the Tea Party's frustrations, but I think that their aim is misdirected. They should be angry with the members of Congress and Senate who have constantly blocked almost every action of the President to improve our financial situation. Cutting taxes is only going to make matters worse....it is a pity that they (Tea Partiers) are being led down the garden path and would take the rest of us with them. The Republican Party has a history of backing "Big Business" and the wealthy elite and to hell with the underdogs(us)....seems like sour grapes to me.

Michele Obama: Too Busy For TV Watching?

Prez. Obama's statement, on the View, that it is the only daytime show that his wife watches....to which his critics say "hooey"....she is far too busy, in the morning, to watch TV...and besides she is s Harvard grad......funny that those critics haven't heard of TIVO, just saying.

Trash TV: Exploitation of Young Girls

Sex sells AKA Trash TV.....let's be honest, we all watch one or more of these so-called entertainments but some go too far in matters of immorality, and one of the top ten, (in my opinion) is devoted to the misdeeds of a family who has an obsession with one letter of the alphabet in their names. The matriarch has no problem with the exploitation of her daughters. A younger one is 14 and since she is an "aspiring model" two of her older sisters posted pictures of her, in very poor taste considering her age, taken during a photo shoot at the beach. The message to all the young girls who watch this trash seems to be.....its O.K. to look like a hooker and if that gets you publicity great! Oy vey!

Obama on THE VIEW

Well, now President Obama is getting flack for his scheduled appearance on the View.....a program that has a wider viewing audience than most press conferences or "news" shows....this after accusing him of being aloof and only giving scripted appearances......what a hypocritical bunch we are!

Pray For Sarah

 As to Keith Olbermann's remarks about Sarah Palin being an "idiot".....in my opinion she is just ignorant and is too stupid to realize it. We should pray for her and God will heal her....just as she recommends for the oil disaster in the Gulf.

Sarah Palin: "You Cannot Be Serious!"

In the immortal words of Johnny Mac......." you cannot be serious!"....The very idea of S.Palin even being considered as a Presidental Candidate is enough to make us the laughing stock of the entire civilized, diplomatic community! Under that cutesy,"just plain folks" facade of "you betcha" and using "ya" instead of "you" lives an absolutely incompetent woman who has a certain amount of cleverness but no amount of intelligence or intellect..... if this is an example of the Tea Partie's ideology we are in deep trouble if they gain momentum!

Excluding Abortions

Lord love a duck!.....according to the news on the Health Care mish-mash....there is a movement afoot to exclude abortions (which are still legal medical procedures in this country) from any, and all, insurance plans that include taxpayer dollars....it is one thing to impose a group's religious beliefs on all people, but the ProLifers are not the only people who pay those tax monies.....that makes this issue twice as discriminatory against women!! By the way, aren't those people the same ones who decry "government interference" when it comes to health care.....or anything else? Just wondering.

Righ to Lifers:Baby, You're on Your Own

part dos: The sanctimony of "Right-to Lifers" a case in point...in Italy a woman, who had been in a vegetative state for 17 years finally had her feeding tubes removed...despite the efforts to stop that action,by the Pope and government.....very much like a case here in the U.S. They (the RtL) spoke of "God's will"....yet it was man/science that extended those lives....when left to God, those people died....weren't we playing "God" by keeping them artificially alive? Our previous government deprived people/ children of much needed Aid if it included any mention of birth control/family planning. Children here at home are being brought up in substandard environments and inadequate nutrition... where are the marches of protest?? We send our young men and women off to war to be killed or maimed in body and in spirit, yet fail to fund the cost of health care/ rehabilitation. It seems that the "sanctity of life" only spans the time from conception to birth....after that,baby, you are on your own.

Obama and a Clinton White House Cabinet?

What the Hell!...I voted for Obama and got a Clinton White House /Cabinet!...the only role that Obama will fill seems to be "Figurehead"....as for Hillary being Sec.of State....is this supposed to be a consolation prize? She is a very capable woman, but not to that degree esp. with the huge difference of thought on the war !

Culture and Diplomacy

In many European countries those who want to pursue a career in the Diplomatic Corps actually train for it.....studies in cultural affairs,languages,and geography and related issues..... in this country,Diplomatic posts are all too often awarded as political "favors"..... I can only pray that Obama doesn't regard the office of Secretary of State as such.....Hillary is a very accomplished woman who would be better suited to the job of Secretary of Health etc.,which is a field that she has had years of experience in....NOT in foreign affairs / diplomacy.,...someone who has a broader knowledge of the world and who, let's hope, can speak other languages,not just English.

A tip for Elizabeth Hassle B.......one never learns with an open mouth....that is what ears are for . I find it quite astonishing that one so young can be that opinionated ( and rather rude )and narrow minded , maybe if she listened more she might learn more....Bless her heart ...
